Founded by papal bull in 1343 with academic roots tracing back to the 11th century, the University of Pisa is a public university operating 20 departments and over 150 degree courses. Its alumni include Nobel laureates Enrico Fermi and Carlo Rubbia, and it hosted Italy’s first Internet connection and developed the country’s first electronic computer (CEP) in the 1960s. Pisa offers Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes taught in English across humanities, economics, engineering, computer science and health sciences, and its official site describes the region’s DSU scholarship for eligible students.
